Kimbia PlantationOnce used by the Government of Guyana as a "National Service Center", a combination of agriculture and military training facilities. Kimbia covers some 45 square miles across the intermediate savannas on the east bank of the Berbice River. ![]() This aerial view shows the main compound, which is now being used by Georgia Caribbean Association as plantation headquarters. The square in the center, surrounded by coconut palms, was once the parade ground. The large building was the mess hall. In all, there were approximately 104 buildings and structures located on the Kimbia Plantation. However, after the government discontinued operations prior to the acquisition by the Georgia Caribbean Association. Since then, most of the buildings deteriorated beyond repair, and have been dismantled and hauled away. |
