Economical Benefits

The establishment of Paulownia Plantations/ Plywood Mill Operations will have a profoundly positive, long-term effect on the socio-economics of the various host countries. Each GCA TimberLot™ plantation operation is referred to as a “Production Unit”. The unit is sized to produce an annual harvest volume of veneer logs that can supply a plywood/veneer mill on an economical and continuous basis. Each production unit will consist of a minimum of 20,000 acres of under-utilized agricultural lands planted in Paulownia trees along with a modern, on-site, plywood or veneer mill. Once the mill goes into production, approximately 20 percent of the jobs will be in tree production and the remainder in the harvesting and mill operations. Many indirect jobs will also be created in the associated supply and shipping industries, thereby adding to the overall social and economic status of the local sector. Each unit, at full production, is expected to employ approximately 575 workers and indirectly create jobs for an estimated, additional 200 workers.

In addition to the income that the host country will receive from the use of currently under-utilized land, the Georgia Caribbean Association will be establishing a community at each plantation. The affiliated companies will provide their own infrastructure, supermarket, school, sanctuaries and medical facilities for both employees and local residents.
